A graduate of the Brooklyn College Murray Koppelman School of Business, Edgar Alacan has worked in the private jet industry for the past 12 years. The co-founder and administrative head of JETS.com in New York City, Edgar Alacan stays up to date with the latest developments in his chosen field as a member of several professional organizations including the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA).
In recent months, a number of public figures have faced public scorn for engaging in “wasteful” private jet travel. The NBAA, however, is combatting the widespread image of private jets as environmentally damaging. NBAA stakeholders are dedicated to “achieving carbon-neutral growth” in emissions around the world by 2020. The organization is also promising to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to half of 2005 levels by 2050. The green efforts of the NBAA build upon the work of Gulfstream Aerospace and other private aviation companies that have been hard at work on various sustainable jet fuel alternatives for quite some time. In fact, some form of alternative, environmentally-responsibly fuel powered 23 of the 58 private jets on display at a recent Geneva business aviation trade show.
